Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Teenage pregnancy remains a pressing social issue in Lafia Local Government Area (LGA), Nasarawa State, with significant implications for the health, education, and socio-economic prospects of affected adolescents. Addressing this challenge requires a multi-faceted approach, with public relations (PR) playing a pivotal role in raising awareness, influencing attitudes, and promoting preventive measures. PR campaigns can effectively disseminate information on reproductive health, engage stakeholders, and foster community-based solutions. As noted by Adeyemi and Musa (2023), PR strategies such as community outreach, media advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration are essential in reducing teenage pregnancy rates. This study explores the effectiveness of PR strategies in addressing teenage pregnancy in Lafia LGA.
